🍩 Ingredients (for 12 donuts)

For the donuts:

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 250 ml warm milk
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 packet of active dry yeast (or 20 g fresh yeast)
  • 2 eggs
  • 60 g melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt

For the glaze:

  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

🥄 Instructions for Donuts

1️⃣ Activate the yeast:

  • In a small bowl, mix the yeast with about 50 ml of warm milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes foamy.

2️⃣ Prepare the dough:

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  • Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, the remaining milk, the eggs, and vanilla extract.
  • Mix to form a smooth dough.
  • Add the melted butter and knead the dough for about 5 to 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.

3️⃣ First rise:

  • Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.

4️⃣ Shape the donuts:

  • On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1 cm thickness.
  • Using a large cutter and a smaller cutter for the hole in the middle, cut out the donuts.
  • Place the donuts on a parchment-lined baking tray.

5️⃣ Second rise:

  • Let the donuts rest for about 30 minutes to allow them to rise slightly.

6️⃣ Frying the donuts:

  • Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 180°C (350°F).
  • Fry the donuts for about 1 to 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and glossy.
  2. If the glaze is too thick, add a little more milk to adjust the consistency.
